Aerial photography - Ancient Gallery
The
very earliest J Beam UHF aerials had a length of 1 inch tube with
cast alloy clips at each end rather than a cradle
or support arm. This was probably abandoned because
of worries about the proximity of the mast clamp to the elements.
The very earliest UHF aerials were designed for a specific channel
rather than a channel group, and I think that may be the case
here.
