Rogues Gallery

The reach of the bracket arms has been extended by the use of the steel members normally used to support electrical traywork. The cable ties appear to be an attempt to add strength to the join, which has been done with U bolts and extra nuts.

This is the sort of mess that contractors can get into. I’ll speculate that no-one made financial allowance for the effect the roof overhang would have on the aerial installation, so the solution had to be cheap. If the money had been there it would have been possible to have special brackets made. This would have still resulted in an unsightly installation though, so ideally agreement should have been reached to install a mast that protruded through the roof.

I’m told that this installation had to be replaced not long after the pictures were taken. It isn’t surprising really. The mast would surely have tilted over in a gale.
