I’m not a tidy person. All the horizontal surfaces in my office are piled high and objects drop off the edges all the time. I throw my clothes on the floor when I go to bed and the cups in the workshop grow interesting life forms before I take them to be washed. With money I’m retentive, but anally I’m not. For crying out loud though, why do people leave head ends looking like this? Years ago an old BBC hand advised me thus: “Tidy cables work better than untidy ones.” He was right.

This head-end was installed by one of the biggest names in the business in an upmarket hotel. Apparently there were ‘lines ’. I’m not surprised.
