Aerial photography - Ancient Gallery

The long vertical aerial is a single dipole for BBC TV on Band I. These ‘single dipole’ aerials were very popular in the primary service area. When ITV transmissions started in the mid-1950s someone had the idea of clipping a couple of Band III elements onto the single dipole. This worked reasonably well in strong signal areas, although surprisingly this picture was taken in Wetherby, which is a good few miles from Holme Moss and Emley Moor. The Band III accessory is clipped onto the lower half of the dipole. I would have thought that it would have been better to attach it to the support arm.

A similar accessory was used to add VHF FM reception to Band I television aerials, and if anyone has a picture of one of these please could I have a copy?
