Wright's Aerials

A team of highly qualified engineers came all the way from foreign parts to do this! Head Office apparently wouldn’t trust the perfidious UK aerial riggers!

Since a seven-element DAB aerial was used I guess they needed good performance, but they wouldn’t get it with the active element a couple of inches (sorry Herr X, centimetres) from a scaffold pole.

Let’s remind ourselves of the basics. Aerials are tuned devices. There is a fairly complex inter-relationship between resonance, impedance matching, element length and element spacing. If a great chunk of metal is placed near a yagi array all this goes to pot. This array should have been on a good long sidearm.
