A bit of Baird

JL Baird, as every schoolboy knows, was a pioneer of television. He invented a mechanical system using huge spinning disks and lights that were so bright and hot that appearing in front of them was an ordeal. Brilliant and innovative as his work was, his television system was a bit impractical really, and it was quickly superseded by ‘electronic television’. Here are a few bits and pieces about Baird that we’ve come across over the years.
