The object of the exercise was to tap into the downlead that feeds the living room, so that a telly can be installed in the bedroom. This is quite a creditable attempt, because there has been some attempt to wrap the splitter with insulating tape. Often the poor old ‘Y’ splitter is left unprotected, to fend for itself. Of course the application of tape has been futile, because PVC tape doesn’t mould to the shape, so water gets in anyway. But at least he tried. He really should have used an outdoor splitter. In any case, cheap ‘Y’ splitters often lose a lot of signal, so are best avoided.
