Aerial photography - Ancient Gallery
This is not an ‘X’ aerial with two missing elements. This is a ‘V’ aerial. The ‘V’ design, reminiscent of a Prime Ministerial gesture of the period, comprised a quarter wave dipole and reflector, and was common in its loft aerial form because a Band I yagi was ten feet tall and wouldn’t fit in a loft. But until this shot came along I’d never seen an outdoor ‘V’ aerial.
Thanks to Gareth Foster, who took this picture at Shanklin.
