Aerial photography - Ancient Gallery
The
X15 and X17 combined Band I and III arrays from Antiference came
into their own in areas where ghosting was a problem and both
channels had vertical polarisation. The Antex X-shaped
Band I aerial could be rotated independently of the Band III section.
The Antex rejected signals from the side rather than from the
rear, and it was often more a case of putting it broadside on
to the offending gasometer or whatever than pointing it at the
transmitter. The twin feeder linking the two arrays is clearly
visible on this shot. The modern UHF aerial nearby gives an idea
of the size of the X17.
